Hi All Just a quick note to say that I may not be around the next few days as my Mum is going in to hospital.
I am really worried about her, we nearly lost her 5-6 years ago, she had a heart attack followed by 2 strokes, months in ICU a tracheotomy, being fed through a tube, the lot
At 22 no one should have to go through what I went through doctors telling you that it will be a miracle if your Mother survives, I admit I went off the rails, refused to go and see her, in my mind to keep some sort of sanity she was already gone. it was a dark time for me, my family turned against me and would try to force me to go to see here but I couldn't handle the ICU, the smell the sound of the machines mostly the silence. The fact that I would sit there holding my Mums hand talking to her and her not answering me, all I wanted was a squeeze of my hand or her to tell me that I shouldn't be so careless to go to a party of a guy I barely know.
With her history even this routine hernia and gallstones operation is dangerous. She has been weened off the warfarin and been having daily injections and tomorrow is the day of the op and as it draws ever closer I am more and more anxious.
I was supposed to go to London for the weekend but my absolute fear is that something bad will happen so I cancelled even though my mum told me not to, right now she is my priority and with that said the blog will probably sit on the back burner for about a week but do not fear I will be back soon and I am sure everything will be fine...I'm just a worry wort!

Beware The Critics!
I am ever more noticing that we live in a super critical world, it would seem that some people make it their job to criticise anything they feel.
Don't get me wrong if your opinion is valid I will take note but I have seen too many moo points (friends fans you get this!) of late, I mean so what if you don't like Uggs? is there really any reason to dedicate a whole blog post to your hatred, therefore alienating your readers (ooo you have so many a few don't count right?) and potentially making them lack confidence?
Some of you reading this might have a bigger audience than me, some of you might not, but I will let you in to a little secret...
People do not want you to judge them just by what they wear, no matter how much you hate it
Some people need to realise that just because they think they are "IT" and of course super stylish doesn't make them god almighty, and we need to realise this too.
Just because someone doesn't like your style don't let the bitches of the blogging world get you down, hell I have half a mind to slap on some fake tan go out in my denim mini, wearing my uggs just to prove that I can pull off the look some seem to so despise (FYI if it was summer I would be wearing flip flops not uggs).
Now how about we voice some decent opinions rather than wasting web space on bringing people down!

Weepy Wednesday
I did plan to write about college today but, I had to wave of one of my best friends to Australia today so I am in a bit of a weepy mood and not really in the happiest of places.
You know one of those days where one event (bessie leaving work and the country) just triggers a complete breakdown, you start to think of all the crappy things and how if it wasn't for those in the way that everything would be perfect, when that little voice inside you is just screaming at you...Yeah that...

I Can't Live if Living is Without...
Berocca!
I have a B12 deficiency as it is which I have to have a shot for every 3 months. B12 is very important for making red blood cells, low levels of B12 cause the number of red blood cells to deplete, the ones that are made are normally abnormally large and do not last as long, this means that your organs don't get the amount of oxygen they need leading to a form of anemia. Anemia can make you very tired and make you feel like someone has put a wet blanket over your shoulders, I find I can feel aches right to my core and can get so tired I feel sick.
I wont go all medical on you but B12 deficiency is a serious condition and without diagnosis can cause serious health issues, for more information I recommend a little light reading on the Bupa website!
Anyway back to Berocca!
Berocca is an effervescent tablet that you dissolve in a glass of water, I find it is the perfect tonic to kick start my day and makes me stop to have a glass of water before I even start the day which in its self is a good thing. Berocca is full of high doses of a few vital vitamins including B12 and I feel that taking Berocca boosts my B12 levels so I don't feel as lethargic.
Since taking it I have noticed my energy levels are higher, my memory is a lot better, I am more focused and able to get more done!
Some might see this as a placebo saying that you pee out most of the vitamins as at high levels the body doesn't absorb all the vitamins however if it makes you feel better, placebo or not, its a good thing right?
I personally love the stuff, I favour the tropical flavor, the only side affect I have noticed is that (and I'm sorry if this is a little graphic) my pee is bright yellow like the tropical colour of the drink!
Do you take Berocca? do you think its all a hype? Can a tablet really change your day?
Berocca is currently on offer in Sainsbury 3 for 2

Internet Dating - Addictive?
During last year I decided to join a few dating websites, I decided that 2010 was the year of throwing myself out there, dating those I might not normally see myself dating.
I dated so much it hurt, I'm not kidding, there are only so many times that you can go to the same restaurants and have the same conversations, talk about how many brothers and sisters you have (especially when your family is as confusing as mine!) before you start to bore yourself!
And did I find luuuuuurve? Errrr no, all I found were guys who couldn't commit (that really stings!), chavs, nice guys with no spark, guys who though they were funny when they were in fact offencive, a seemingly normal fella with a fetish for rubber pants (on him not me and ewww!) oh and one guy who I thought was really nice but turned out to be a rather insecure stalker type...Great!
Even after all this I still cant help but check my mails on these sites, which leads me to thinking are Internet dating sites addictive?
I think they are, whats not to like...You get an ego boost with all these guys telling you how great you are and wanting to know the girl that they might otherwise pass by (in my opinion), you are under no obligation to talk to them if you don't want, if the conversation takes a turn in a direction you don't like you don't have to explain the offence and walk away you just don't reply.
If you do decide to date them you get to go out, maybe to somewhere you have never been, and chances are you wont have to spend out, this may not win me any fans by saying it but come on girls, who doesn't like to be wined and dined? I would like to say at this point that even if he does buy you dinner, don't put out on the first date, it makes you seem like you had to pay for your meal in another way if ya knows what I is saying!
Most of the time I go on a second date with a guy, first dates are like the first day at work, both parties are polite and well mannered so the other party forms a good opinion of them, the second date is when the real character starts to break through! Also on this date if it isn't going well, don't be a bitch and make him pay if its not going anywhere then be honest with him and pay your way...its only right ladies we all know it!
I enjoy Internet dating on the whole however PLEASE STAY SAFE ONLINE LADIES! I'm not going to write you a list on how to stay safe, the information is out there and I trust that you are all savvy enough, plus if you google for safety tips there are a million pages out there that will advise you correctly.
What are your thoughts on internet dating? Do you do it? Did you meet your other half on a dating website?

The Day Before...
Makeup school starts tomorrow, I'm excited but wondering what to expect, I'm hopping that I will meet lots of like minded people and make some new friends! I have now gotten over the whole stress of it now, I seem to have sorted my head out with the help of good friends.
In preparation I took the day off to have a chilled out lay in and to sort out everything I had been putting off so that my mind was clear for college.
I took 8 plastic carrier bags and 3 big reusable bags to the clothes bank, this included 7 pairs of jeans, I haven't worn a pair of jeans for about a year and a half! I shredded a small forest of papers & threw out 10 tonnes of crap! That's right I'm a hoarder of pretty much anything, I seem to be emotionally connected to everything from beauty products (how many potions and lotions does one girl need!) down to and including a pair of socks with a hole in (they were an ex's, I have now discarded them!) !
But today I became ruthless, I am running out of space and do not want to be living in a bomb site when I only have 1 day off a week, I need my space to be ready to use, tidy and organized.
I also made myself a packed lunch for the first time in yonks! Very proud of this, I'm such a loser sometimes! Ha ha!
So now my bag is packed with all I need, lunch is in the fridge, and I am good to go!
Are you a hoarder? What are your tips for getting rid of your stuff?
Will hopefully blog about my first day at college Saturday evening or Sunday until then wish me luck!

Thoughtless Thursday
I am sick of thoughtless people making plans and breaking them.
Already in the last month I have had at least 5 people cancel on me for a number of reasons and today was no exception, I was supposed to be going to London with a "friend" of mine on Saturday and have been ditched, this annoys me because I could have made other plans had it not been for this.
I just don't understand why people feel the need to make plans that they know they cant keep/cant afford/shouldn't be making because their girlfriend doesn't know they are still friends with me, that they still fancy me and that they want to get in my pants (bit to specific with that one?)!
I wish people would just tell me when I suggest that they can't do it, what is wrong with being honest, if I can't do something I say so, I expect nothing less of anyone else, I don't care who you are or what you are doing that is so important, you made plans with me, and now I am the one stuck with nothing to do because you decided I was second best to another option!
Don't make plans if you can't keep them or I will unleash my wrath!
Then ultimately, I will have to apologise for said wrath and now I am the bad person...Shit...

Tired and Stressed of Lisa Land
I am so tired I cannot even describe, I feel physically sick pretty much all day at the moment through exhaustion and yet I cant sleep, my sleep is broken and when I do sleep I have various nightmares.
I am not sleeping because I am stressed, I am stressed because I am not sleeping...can you see this vicious circle right in front of your eyes?
So I figured if I wrote down about why I am stressed it might help, are you sitting comfortably it is very much a roller coaster from here on out
I am just 2 weeks away from starting a course in makeup artistry, this is a good thing you would imagine and whilst I am completely buzzing about training in a new career I really want (If you follow me on twitter you will know it is my deepest passion in life), I cant help but fear the unknown.
I am scared that I will not be accepted buy my fellow classmates due to the fact I have a prosthetic eye (yes that's right I lost my eye in a trauma when I was 8...that's a whole other story), I mean will they want to work with me or on my face? this has never been an issue for me before, I tell practically everyone I meet, hell I'm even putting it out there on the tinternet to 16 followers and whoever might stumble upon my little blog. I think the real issue here is that I HAVE to tell them. I don't have an option, they need to know what they are working with right?
I am super panicked by finding my way around London, finding the college, finding the nearest Costa...this is odd for me because I love that London, I do however stick to the same places of interest and don't venture in to the unknown unaccompanied.
Travel had me in a state last night, I was looking at journeys that firstly were over 2 hours long I whittled this down by changing my destination station but this meant I had 3 connections and a bus ride! Arrrggghhh! Luckily I had some advice from a dear friend who calmed me down, then today at work someone heard me talking about my mini travel breakdown and chirped in "why don't you just get the bus" pah! The bus will take me forever...oh no wait it wont it will take just over an hour with a 5 min tube journey...AND its cheaper...score, problem solved (other than the fact I have to be a bus wanker, but whatever!).
Ok so that is college sorted now on to the woe that is money...my course was so darn expensive it hurt...and this is the time, after Christmas and paying out for travel etc that it is really smacking me down...I have a budget, its tight, but I have to stick to it so I can save money for my MUA kit. I need the savings for portfolio work and of course makeup
Ok so that's it, well almost, work is killing me but that's nothing new, my back is in agony but I have painkillers for that, my face is like a dot to dot and my legs are for some reason covered in bruises...Joy!
In conclusion am I happy? YES even with all the stress I am still happy, I am sure that come the time for college I will be more tired than ever (working 5 days and at college for 1) but I am hopping the stress will ease and I will be able to focus on the positives...for now though I am bricking it!
If you got this far, I salute you!

s(NO!)w Day
The white stuff today has kept me from going on a second date with a guy I really like, I woke up cursing said white stuff
But its really pretty, and I got to spend some quality time with my mum...we laughed & we cried over those we miss at this time of year...Oh and I made her try on my hat, which made us laugh even more
I proceeded to show her how I rock it, and my ability to strike a stupid pose
I got some wonderful, unexpected pressies in the post, the first ones to make it under the tree!
It stopped snowing...bit to late to save my date, but good things come to those who wait...I hope
We experienced a mini power cut, and now I'm sat waiting for my lasagna to cook
Boy what a day that tuned out to be, not what I expected at all...Rough and smooth, pain and joy, but you know what, I am so glad to have had those moments with my mum, sometimes (even if you don't realise it) you just need a cuppa and some bourbons with the ones you love, simple pleasures.

Nearly New Year, New Start
This blog is my new years resolution, I know its not the new year yet, what can I say, I was keen!
The name of this blog came to me one drunken night...so drunken I walked in to a bookcase, bruised my hip and chest plus told all my friends something I shouldn't have...anyway come the end of the night I'm laying on my friends sofa, room spinning and it just came to me, my thought process was
"I need a blog name that means something"
*hic*
"I don't feel too good"
I ran through a few in my head, all as bad as the next then, out of the blue it was there
"Princess and the Pea!"
One of my dearest friends calls me Lady Poddington because I used to always wear green...It just seemed perfectly apt (if you don't know what I'm on about you need to see this), and so Princess and the Pea was born.
So thought I would start with a little about me and what you can expect from this blog
This blog was inspired by my need to write more than just another beauty blog I wanted something I could inject my personality in to, I wanted a lifestyle blog about my (extra) ordinary life!
I love all things artistic, my main passion is my desire to become a makeup artist, I have funded a course which I start at the end of January 2011, I'm sure you will hear more about that in coming blog posts
I adore music and any suggestions for bands to listen to are always welcome...I listen to anything, I wouldn't say I have a certain genre I favor more than the other.
I am single, I am always dating, I think I'm dating the wrong people but I know it will eventually lead to the right one, in the meantime I enjoy (yes that's right) dating and my single life. I do however hate my friends trying to match make for me!
I defiantly have a sense of humor when it comes to my stupidity and accident prone status, I share regular fortune fails on twitter, you can find me here Poddington Pea
Things may get a little personal (not graphic or nasty!) on here, I want to be able to express myself and let you in on my goings on, I want to feel like I can say whatever I'm thinking and you will accept me for me.
Above all I am friendly, sweet and caring...Please don't vomit its true!
Heres to a brand spanking New Year and new start
